Events in Atlanta for the Fourth of July

So you’re heading to Atlanta for the fourth of July and need some things to do? Well, you’re in luck… Atlanta is the Southeast’s major hub for some of the biggest and most fun fourth of July events and happenings in the country!
It only makes sense to start with the obvious and the one thing that everyone thinks of when July 4th starts creeping around is, of course, fireworks. And the ATL sure has plenty of those. In fact, Atlanta hosts the biggest fireworks exhibition in the Southeast with its Lenox Square display, a sure blast for both friends and family. Still, if you’re looking to catch more than just a magnificent fireworks display, Atlanta’s premier Lenox Mall will be hosting its Legendary 4th, a massive celebration that attracts more than 200,000 people annually and features some of Atlanta’s best live bands and food. It’s sure to be a great time for nearly any one of any age.
If you’re more of the sports type, though – and even if you enjoy watching more than participating – then you’re definitely going to want to check out the Peachtree Road Race. This, the world’s biggest 10k, will host 60,000 runners and walkers to traverse one of Atlanta’s most famous roads – Peachtree. Tailgating tends to be a common past time, especially for those with a family member or friend in the race, and even if you don’t know any one in the event, participants tend to wear eccentric and sometimes hilarious costumes to keep spectators entertained. So, if you’re looking to run or just watch, the Peachtree Road Race is sure to be a fantastic way to spend your fourth of July afternoon.
